As the name suggests, the Central Park Zoo is situated in Central Park in New York which covers an area of about 6.5 acres. The Wildlife Conservation Society, in short WCS, takes utmost care of it. The accreditation has been given by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It started its journey in the year 1860 and was the first official zoo in the country.
Some modifications were done in the year 1934 by adding several new buildings which were arranged in a quadrangle around the sea lion pool. From that time onwards, it was famous by the name of Robert Moses Zoo. Replacement of the age old cages with a natural environment was done in the year 1988.
